Sostenes Mireles II is the founder and principal of Sostenes Mireles II, PLLC, located in Del Rio, Texas. Serving clients in Del Rio, San Antonio, and throughout Val Verde and Bexar counties, he divides his practice between criminal defense and family law matters. His criminal defense cases have involved clients who have been charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief, driving while intoxicated and assorted drug possession allegations. His family law practice has included divorce, child support, adoption and the termination of parental rights. Mr. Mireles also has experience working with immigration and civil litigation cases.
Mr. Mireles attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting. In 2003, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law and was admitted to practice in Texas that same year. From 2004 to 2005, he worked as an assistant district attorney at the Office of the Criminal District Attorney in Hays County, Texas, where he gained experience in criminal cases involving DWI and domestic violence charges. He then joined an established firm in the Del Rio area. Mr. Mireles opened his own firm in 2007, and has represented clients before both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mireles has acted as first chair on at least seven criminal jury trials at the federal level and more than 40 of such cases at the state level. He has also worked more than 100 civil and criminal bench trials. In addition to his practice, Mr. Mireles has also maintained memberships in a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the Val Verde County Bar Association and was previously the president of the Federal Bar Association. In his most recent trial he received a NOT GUILTY verdict on a case where his client was facing 10 years to life in prison in federal court for allegedly smuggling more than 5 kilograms of methamphetamine.
